Ten years on from the 2007 ‘Responding to Homelessness in Aotearoa New Zealand’ edition of Parity magazine, the Australian Council to Homeless Persons produce has produced a 2017 anniversary edition. This publication is a point-in-time record of how we have responded to the increases in homelessness since the first publication was produced.

Co-edited by Te Matapihi, this edition brings together the specialist community focused on homelessness and showcases the expertise within the country, documenting the progress and successes we’ve made in addressing homelessness while clarifying the challenges that remain.

Housing First Auckland has contributed four articles to this edition, including:

  • Housing First Auckland: A Collective Impact Approach to Ending Chronic Homelessness in New Zealand’s Largest City, by the Housing First Auckland Backbone Team, page 25
  • Housing First Auckland City Centre Programme: Responsiveness to Māori, by Sophia Beaton (Kāi Tahu, Kāti Mamoe) and Sarah Greenaway Lifewise, page 34
  • Housing First: People Working with People by Brook Turner, Head of Community Services Development, VisionWest Community Trust, page 37
  • Elderley at 43: on health and homelessness, by Mackenzie Koppel and Tarati Blair-Hunt, Auckland City Mission, page 52
